03 BMW Z4 stuck trunk possible fix!
This might be a possible fix for others as well! Take note that this could cause damage if not done properly as well as getting hurt. Take all precautions when doing this. Might be a possible fix for a stuck door as well. When all other methods fail like safety release, key, unlock button. If it does not pop open at all it might give enough room to cut. Get a good quality set of bladders for locksmithing. Sorry about the quality of the video, somehow it recorded in slow motion and there is no other way to undo it to save it, so I did a screen record after adjusting the speed. Let me know if it works for you!

      I would just move the AC unit. Take it off the bracket after removing the belt. I'm sure some swivel heads and extensions can reach it, but if it's stuck you'll need to grab it pretty good.

    I’m about to have to try this myself. I have a 2003 Z4 and the passenger door is stuck shut. Neither door handle works, when you go to unlock it the actuator pops the lock rod up and down 3 times but doesn’t unlock. I’ve got the door card off and have been trying manipulating the cables and levers every other way before resorting to this…but nothing has worked so far. All the cables are fine and manipulate the actuator in what appears to be a full range of motion (checked this via borescope).

      Might have to get it smoke tested to make sure the lines connected properly and there's no broken lines in the engine. There are other ways to test, but can be dangerous if not done properly, by spraying starter fluid around the vacuum lines, but that is done at your own risk if you don't want to pay to have it smoke tested. Also check the gas cap as the seal and spring can go bad. Sorry I can't help with more. It would be just guessing after and would need hands on to find it.

    • @SyntheticVisionsAutomotive

      It's there a way to reconnect the switch? Usually if you disconnect a battery for 30 minutes to 60 can do it. Sometimes disconnecting both leads with no power going through them and touching them together for about a minute does what some call a soft reset. Always use caution when doing that process. If you can find a salvage yard and get the whole connector and switch. Might be able to find it on Google somewhere.

The hint about using the small screwdriver to push the safety lock worked for me. You can/should attach the tube before installing the part (as stated in the video).

    I was getting a lean code on my XC40, and i noticed that when car was hot, it would not hold an idle.... AT a red light, it would surge slowly from 1000 RPM up to about 1500m, drop back down suddenly, and then build back up again over and over... I changed rear O2 sensor and that code went away, however, im still getting an engine light, and this idle up and down... Any thoughts?

    • @SyntheticVisionsAutomotive
      @SyntheticVisionsAutomotive 5 месяцев назад

      Best thing is to see what code might be there with a good scanner. Could be multiple things and would mainly be guessing. Some cars vacuum leaks can cause it, while other might be tps, iac, or any extra sensors or solenoids. See if it goes away when you remove the oil cap, but be careful as oil can spray out a little. Also make sure the charging system and battery are good.

    If you’re only changing the passenger side (as I was today) you can also access the bulb from the top by removing the air filter box (see his video on changing out the low beam headlights for how to do that). I was ultimately changing out both the fog light and headlight bulbs on the passenger side, and was able to do both from the top.

    825 am right off the bat you should probably have said this is where the timing belt is located in this compartment right here. DISCLAIMER: Movement and jostling of the camera (and focus issues) can cause dizziness and nauseum. Thank you for the information needed

    Do you think this will work on a 2008? They quoted me 600 dollars to replace the fan motor so if i can do it myself id love to!

      I'm thinking it's the same, but if it's not it should still be pretty similar. 600 is insane! Make sure it's your fan before buying a new one also. You can hook power directly to it to see if it spins. Make sure to have a good grip on it if you decide to test it. There are videos that show the basics of testing that part. Good luck and let me know how it goes!
